Pourquoi es-tu intéressé par ce projet? / Why are you interested in this project?

Ce projet nous rappelle que l’histoire et l’archéologie sont davantage présentes dans nos vies que nous le pensons. Le site agit comme une sorte de monument historique illustrant la vie des gens qui ont vécu ici tout en permettant aux personnes qui habitent dans les environs de s’instruire sur leur passé. L’aspect public du projet permet aux habitants de Verdun de pouvoir apprendre et interagir avec leur passé. La fouille du site de la Maison Nivard-De Saint-Dizier représente  une approche de l’histoire souvent ignorée, celle dont les découvertes de notre passé contribuent à notre compréhension du présent tout comme celui-ci dicte notre interprétation du passé.

This project reminds us that history and archaeology are not as divorced from our daily lives as we like to think they are. It serves as a monument to the histories of those peoples by physically bringing the past to the present in a local community. By being open to the public, people are able to tangibly interact with the histories of the peoples who have passed through here. Thus, this project emphasises the continuing impact of Montreal’s past on its present by literally resurfacing the foundation of its founding.  In this sense, the Maison Nivard de Saint-Dizier dig embodies a dynamic and often overlooked approach to history, one in which the ethnographic and material past can contribute and even challenge our understanding of the present to the same extent as our understanding of the present dictates our view of the past.

J’ai déjà eu un blog où je publiais des photos de jus alors que je n’en bois même pas. Selon moi, boire du jus n’est qu’une façon de se débarrasser des fruits expirés. Je me suis également déjà fait passer pour le Président ukrainien sur Twitter jusqu’à ce que les évènements en Crimée s’intensifient et que les chaînes de nouvelles ukrainiennes commencent à me poser des questions et à me prendre au sérieux. J’ai donc dû arrêter et fermer le compte.

I used to have a blog dedicated to close up photos of juice but I don’t even drink juice, I think it’s a scam for people to get rid of bad fruit. I also impersonated the Ukrainian president on twitter until the Crimea conundrum because some naive news outlets were tweeting me asking for responses so I had to stop.
