I am a McGill 3rd year student majoring in anthropology and minoring in East Asian studies.  I took a Human Evolution course which triggered my interest in archaeology and it encouraged me to take other courses related to it such as Zooarchaeology and Archaeological methods.

Je suis une étudiante de 3e année à McGill en anthropologie, et qui fait une mineure en Études asiatiques. J’ai suivi un cours d’évolution humaine qui m’a beaucoup inspirée, et qui m’a poussé à m’intéresser davantage à l’archéologie. Également, ce cours m’a encouragé de suivre des cours connexes tels que la zooarchéologie et les méthodes archéologiques.

Pourquoi es-tu intéressé par ce projet? / Why are you interested in this project? 

Archaeology is an interesting and alluring study because it allows us to dig out the past in the present which is fascinating since you get to touch, see, smell, and taste historic moments. I believe that is what makes archaeology special and different from other studies. I have learned a lot about theory in class and washed bones in a lab as a volunteer but I haven’t had the opportunity to be present in the process from the starting to the end. But! When this project was offered to the students, I was immediately caught by it because I have always wanted to contribute to the whole process of reconstruction the past.

L`archéologie est une étude intéressante et captivante parce qu’elle nous permet de déterrer le passé au présent,  ce qui est fascinant puisqu’on peut toucher, sentir, et goûter des moments historiques. Selon moi, cet aspect rend l’archéologie spéciale et différente des autres études. J’ai appris beaucoup en ce qui concerne la théorie en classe et j’ai eu la chance de laver des os animaux en tant que bénévole pour un autre projet. Cependant, je n’avais jamais participé à un projet archéologique du début à sa fin.  Ce projet représente ainsi une chance de participer à la reconstruction de l’histoire de Montréal. J’espère que cela m’aidera à mieux comprendre son passée et son histoire!

Dis-nous quelque chose a ton sujet / Tell us something about you :

I love travelling and discovering other cultures. I actually enjoy travelling alone since I can fully concentrate on what I’m experiencing in the places that I have visited. I always try to buy a fan from the city or country I travelled to as a souvenir of it.

J’adore voyager et découvrir d’autres villes et pays. En fait, j’adore voyager toute seule, parce que je peux vivre complètement les expériences culturelles du pays ou de la ville que je visite. À chaque fois que je voyage, j’achète un éventail qui représente son pays comme souvenir.
